Cumberland Avenue Form Based Code - Final Draft
As announced in the blog last Friday, the final draft of the Cumberland Avenue Form Based Code has been submitted to MPC for the September 12th public meeting. The final draft is available here.
Additionally, the City has issued a Media Release, available here and below:
CUMBERLAND AVENUE
CODE READY FOR PUBLIC REVIEW
The final
draft of the Cumberland Avenue Form-Based Code has been compiled by Code Studio
of Austin, Texas, after a series of public meetings, including meetings on
April 4th and June 18th of this year.
The
Form-Based Code establishes zoning and design guidelines for the Cumberland
Avenue Corridor Project, which is redeveloping Cumberland Avenue from 17th
Street west to the railroad overpass.
The
Final Draft of the Form-Based Code for the Cumberland Avenue Corridor is
available for review at www.cityofknoxville.org/cumberland.
This
document is scheduled to be heard at the regular Metropolitan Planning
Commission (MPC) meeting on Thursday, Sept. 12th. The agenda for
that meeting can be found at http://agenda.knoxmpc.org.
The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Main Assembly Room of the City
County Building, 400 Main St. For questions about the meeting, contact MPC at
865.215.2500.
If
MPC recommends approval of the rezoning and Form-Based Code document at the
Sept. 12th meeting, the next step in the process would be for City
Council to consider adopting the Code on two readings.

KUB Update
KUB will start work setting new utility poles in the alleys on Monday, September 9th, in preparation of Phase I (Alcoa Highway to 22nd Street) of the Cumberland Avenue Streetscape Project. KUB has made the necessary call to Tennessee One Call in order to have the underground utilities marked in the alleys. KUB will also be doing some tree work to clear vegetation in these areas. There are currently no electrical outages planned at this time, but customers can expect 2 day prior notification if an outage becomes necessary. KUB will try to coordinate outages for after business hours if they become necessary.
The point of contact for this KUB project is Mr. Jason Meredith and he can be reached at 558-2648 if you have any questions or concerns.
