October 25th Update

2019 University of Tennessee Knoxville's Homecoming is right around the corner!

The University of Tennessee's Homecoming is next week and the Cumberland Avenue Merchants Association (CAMA) and the City of Knoxville have been working in partnership with the University for a fun-filled parade. This year's theme is "Lighting the Way" taken from the 225th Celebration of the University of Tennessee. The parade takes place Friday, November 1, at Circle Park.  The parade will begin at 4 PM. Knoxville Police Department and Public Service will close Cumberland to through traffic between 22nd Street and James Agee starting at 3:30 PM and lasting until 5:00 PM.

The parade showcases student organization floats, community vehicles, and includes the eighth annual Little Vol Walk.  The Parade Emcee will be stationed at the intersection of Pedestrian Walkway and Volunteer Blvd.  The emcee will be Dr. Jill Zambito, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Life. More information here.

By walking in the parade CAMA members will be helping to "shine the light" - handing out more than $1,000.00 worth of prizes to Parade Attendees selected at random along the route. Merchants have collected coupons, gift cards, t-shirts, and other swag from their businesses. You could be a lucky winner just by showing up to enjoy the parade!

Keep in mind that there is more to do than just the parade! For a full list of events please visit here.

Also happening is the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band - Congratulations!

As always, thanks for your interest in everything involving Cumberland Avenue. Have a safe and fun-filled weekend. Go Vols!
