Cumberland Avenue Streetscapes Update
The city is continuing to work on the right of way (ROW) process in the TDOT contract for the streetcape project. On Tuesday, January 24, after a competitive bid process, City Council voted to approve a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Tennessee Valley Title Insurance Company for title examination, review, evaluation and closing services. This is the foundational work that needs to be done in order to send notifications to the appropriate owners and lease holders regarding the proposed project and the need for temporary construction easements and in some cases utility easements. For more information about this contract, see the article in the Knoxville News Sentinel, by Gerald Witt, here.
Additional steps in the ROW process will be forthcoming this spring. We will keep you posted through the blog, the merchants meetings, and other venues. As always, thanks for your interest in all things related to Cumberland Avenue and if you have any questions feel free to drop me a line at email@example.com.
